Before facing Roberto Bautista Agut on Wednesday the top Bosnian player secured victories through the qualification stage and the first round. During the second round Dzumhur will face 16th seed Frances Tiafoe in their first competition on the ATP Tour.

Damir Džumhur Biography
Damir Džumhur is a Bosnian professional tennis player, born on May 20, 1992. He reached his highest singles ranking of world No. 23 on July 2, 2018, making him the best-ranked player from Bosnia and Herzegovina in history. He is currently the country’s No. 1 player.
In 2017, he made history by winning the St. Petersburg Open, becoming the first player from Bosnia and Herzegovina to win an ATP title. He also won the Kremlin Cup that year, making him the first player ever to win both Russian tournaments in the same season.
Džumhur was the first Bosnian male player to compete in a Grand Slam main draw. He has played for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Davis Cup team and was the first male tennis player from his country to compete at the Olympics in 2016.
As a junior, he was ranked world No. 3 and won a bronze medal at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games.

Early Life & Career
Damir Džumhur was born on May 20, 1992, in Sarajevo, shortly after the start of the Bosnian War. He was born near the Zetra Olympic Hall, which was destroyed at the time but later became the place where he started playing tennis. His parents are Nerfid and Žaneta Džumhur.
As a child, he played football and skied alongside tennis. He looked up to Patrick Rafter and Roger Federer and is a big fan of the Bosnian football club FK Željezničar. Apart from sports, he also acted in films as a teenager. At 14, he was an extra in the award-winning movie Grbavica and later played a sharpshooter in the German film Snipers Valley (2007).
Džumhur speaks Bosnian and English and studied political science at the University of Sarajevo. He is in a relationship with Croatian model Barbara Šegetin, and they have a son named Luka.
Džumhur became a professional tennis player in 2011, making his ATP debut at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors. He mainly played on the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF Men’s Circuit, winning 12 Futures singles titles and 8 doubles titles. In 2013, he reached the finals of the Košice Open and Poznań Open but lost both in three sets.
He also played in the Davis Cup for Bosnia and Herzegovina, winning two singles and one doubles match. He nearly qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, but the last spot went to Lleyton Hewitt, which was criticized in Bosnian media.
Džumhur finished 2012 ranked No. 339 and improved in 2013, breaking into the Top 200 by August and ending the year at No. 187 in the world.
